The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) invites young, English-speaking journalists from Russia to take part in the “Russia-U.S. Young Media Professionals Program.” Five journalists, who will be selected in competition, will come to the United States for a program from Monday, August 3, to Friday, August 21, 2015. Applicants must speak English.

The Community Health Reporting Fellowship gives U.S. journalists and bloggers who cover minority, low-income and rural communities the skills to better produce useful multimedia health news and information on such topics as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, HIV/AIDs and cancer – diseases that disproportionately affect these populations.

Building on the success of the 2014 program, ICFJ will host a new round of Back in the Newsroom Fellowships in 2015. In its first year, the program placed five journalism professors from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in cutting-edge newsrooms for the summer.

Back In The Newsroom is a fellowship program that brings five professors from historically black colleges and universities to spend a summer working in digitally advanced U.S. news organizations. This “internship” will help journalism educators see firsthand the new skills needed for students to succeed in today’s newsrooms.

The fellows will update their digital skills, develop cutting-edge curricula and strengthen relations between these newsrooms and their schools. The program will help improve diversity at leading U.S.

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) offered two online courses in English and Spanish on intriguing topics such as how to plan for retirement, understanding your 401(k), stock and bond markets, mutual funds and private and public companies. These courses were available to U.S. journalists who reported in minority communities. The online courses took place from October 22, 2012 through December 16, 2012. All applicants were asked to propose a project that they developed throughout the length of the course.

The Scripps Howard Immigration reporting training program brings together journalists from the U.S. Spanish and English-language media for a week-long training on how to cover immigration issues using multimedia tools.

ICFJ is currently seeking applicants for the 2012 Scripps immigration reporting program. The program is scheduled to take place Sunday July 15, 2012 through Sunday July 22, 2012 in Washington, D.C.

The application deadline is Monday May 28, 2012.

The 2012 program will have a special focus on the U.S. 2012 presidential election and immigration.

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) has offered two online courses in English and Spanish on covering personal finance for Hispanic journalists and US journalists covering finance issues for minority and immigrant communities. These courses started on July 1 and will end on August 18.

The courses were open to Spanish-speaking and English-speaking journalists from ethnic media.

Improving Personal Finance Literacy in Hispanic Communities: A Training Program for Latino Journalists

Purpose:

The Hispanic Personal Finance Reporting Program of the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) provided hands-on training to Latino journalists working at Spanish-and English-language news organizations in the United States. Between 10 and 15 journalists from print, radio, television and on-line media outlets participated in a two-day workshop.

Air pollution has a heavy impact on the Hispanic, Asian, African-American, and other minority communities in California. Our 2008 workshop, the third in a series, focused on pollution in the San Joaquin Valley.

The Georgia TV Co-Op Study Tour provides an opportunity for a team of two Georgian journalists to learn about and report on the U.S. education system, as well as to deepen their reporting knowledge through an exchange with U.S. media.
