Investigative Reporting Opportunity 2018

Under the Investigative Reporting Initiative in the Americas (IRIA) project, ICFJ, in partnership with Connectas, invites journalists to apply for an investigative reporting grant. IRIA aims to encourage and strengthen independent and quality journalism in the region by offering support to investigative journalists since 2013.

About the Grant

For the first time, IRIA is proud to extend this opportunity to journalists in the Caribbean. We are currently accepting proposals from journalists working in the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Santa Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

Apply for the Grant

If you would like to join ICFJ and Connectas’ network of investigative journalists,  click here to apply. Please note that the selection committee will not accept late applications and will only consider complete applications. The selection committee will give priority to individuals who propose collaborating with other journalists and those who wish to expand on a previous investigation. The proposal should take into account the social relevance of the topic, feasibility of the proposal, potential benefit to the public, and support for transparency and better public management. Deadline is August 5.

Requirements to apply If your proposal is selected, you may receive

  • Must not have an existing reporting grant from ICFJ or Connectas;
  • Must propose an activity in one of the target countries listed above.
