The Tsinghua Global Business Journalism Program (GBJ)

2017 Fall semester students visit the Beijing Review with Rick Dunham, GBJ Program Co-Director

Students selected for the Global Business Journalism Program (GBJ) learn how to cover global economics, financial markets and companies, with a spotlight on the China experience. All courses in the master's degree program are taught in English by renowned scholars and top foreign correspondents and journalists. Special attention is given to comparative studies of Chinese and Western stocks, bonds, currencies and government policies. Courses emphasize practical, hands-on training.

WHO Road Safety Reporting

In partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO),  ICFJ has previously extended opportunities to over 350 journalists from 45 countries to participate in road safety reporting programs. These training sessions and global conferences work to deepen participants’ knowledge and expand their access to experts with the goal of raising awareness and spurring dialogue around critical – yet underreported – road safety issues.

Empowering the Truth Tellers: Asia Investigative Reporting Network

The Asia Investigative Reporting Network (AIR Network) aims to empower journalists across Southeast Asia through training, networking and financial support. By fostering collaboration and providing resources, we enable journalists to expose abuses of power and corruption – expanding high-impact, investigative reporting that serves the public interest.

The Belt and Road Initiative: A Study Tour for Arab Journalists

China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has raised questions about the regional power’s growing global influence. To date, more than 150 countries have either indicated interest in or signed on to projects under the project that promised to generate investment and employment in some of the world’s poorest countries. Nearly twenty of the countries impacted are in South and Southeast Asia, many of which are at risk of debt distress because of lending practices under the initiative. 

Hans Staiger Investigative Reporting Award

Journalists in the global network of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) are invited to apply for the Hans Staiger Investigative Reporting Award to pursue an investigative project of their choosing. Applicants should submit a project idea that seeks to uncover hidden truths, expose wrongdoing, and reveal information that holds the powerful to account.
